CLErk Bock KICKS OFF WELLNESS CAMPAIGN
Effort designed to improve employee health, keep insurance costs low
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (July 17, 2010) – The Clerk & Comptroller’s office is committing to good health, as part of an effort to boost employees’ wellness.
On Saturday, Clerk Sharon Bock launched an employee wellness campaign with a fun morning of fitness demonstrations, games and other activities – including yoga, sack races, a Wii Fit competition, and Zumba.
The wellness kickoff for Clerk’s employees and their families was held at the City Commons waterfront park in downtown West Palm Beach, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Studies have shown on-the-job wellness programs help increase employee productivity and curb health care costs, by reducing absenteeism and workers compensation and disability claims.
The kickoff, which was fully funded by insurance provider CIGNA HealthCare, also featured the following wellness partners: The Bicyclery, CIGNA, Corporate Fitness Solutions, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Gehring Group, University of Florida / Palm Beach County Extension, Susan G. Komen South Florida, Tenet Health, Ultima Fitness and Jamba Juice.
The Florida Constitution established the independent office of the Clerk & Comptroller as a public trustee, responsible for safeguarding public records and public funds. Clerk Sharon Bock is directly elected by and accountable to Palm Beach County residents. In addition to the roles of Clerk of the Circuit Court, County Recorder and Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners, the Clerk & Comptroller is the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Auditor for Palm Beach County.
