Mission Statement

The Minutes section of the Clerk's Finance Department is responsible for recording and archiving the minutes of the Board of County Commissioners' meetings.

Copies of contracts, grants and the extensive range of items presented to the Board for deliberation are maintained in Minutes and kept as permanent records on microfilm. A computer search system allows electronic scanning to locate any specific matter heard by Commissioners during any meeting of the past 15 years. Other records dating back to the County's creation in 1909 may be located through a paper indexing system.

Commissioners generally meet twice each month to deal with County business, once monthly to conduct in-depth workshop informational discussions, and once a month to consider zoning matters. Additional meetings are scheduled to consider changes to the Comprehensive Plan, hold joint meetings with other governmental entities and to conduct budget hearings.

A deputy clerk makes an audio tape of each meeting and records the actions by computer.

The decisions reached by the Board of County Commissioners are made available to the County's web page the day after a meeting. Upon completion, minutes of the meetings are provided to the web page. The Minutes section also provides staffing assistance to the Value Adjustment Board proceedings and maintains those records.
