HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN EARN SERVICE HOURS THIS SUMMER AT THE CLERK’S OFFICE

Special volunteer orientations scheduled this month

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (February 11, 2013) – High school students who want to earn community service hours with the Clerk & Comptroller’s office during Spring Break and over summer vacation should plan to attend a special orientation session to learn about volunteering opportunities available at the Clerk’s office.

Sessions are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 26. Both sessions will be held in the Clerk & Comptroller’s Learning Center, on the fifth floor of the Main Courthouse, 205 N. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach.

Students only need to attend one of the two information sessions to volunteer with the Clerk’s office.

“Volunteering at the Clerk’s office is an excellent way for high school students to earn service hours while learning about our justice system, and the Clerk’s role in it,” said Clerk Sharon Bock.

Students must be at least 15 years old to volunteer with the Clerk & Comptroller’s office, and must pass required background checks. Students between 15 and 17 years old will be required to submit a completed parental consent form.

Volunteers will learn skills such as proper business etiquette, data entry, and how to use courthouse software and office equipment.

Interested students who can’t attend one of the two orientation sessions should visit www.mypalmbeachclerk.com/volunteer to apply online or for more information.
