CLERK & COMPTROLLER MAKES PAYING TRAFFIC TICKETS EASIER
WITH ADDED LOCATIONS AND HOURS FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE

Clerk Bock Finds New Way to Improve Customer Service Despite Budget Cuts

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (August 7, 2009) – The Clerk & Comptroller’s office in Palm Beach County is taking some of the pain out of getting a traffic ticket by making it much more convenient for customers to pay the citation. The office has partnered with The Check Cashing Store® to offer drivers more than 80 additional locations throughout South Florida to pay their tickets. Citations issued in Palm Beach County can now be paid at any Check Cashing Store® in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. As an added bonus, the new locations also offer convenient evening and weekend hours.

“Despite severe state budget cuts that forced us to close our Royal Palm Beach office and layoff nearly 70 employees, I remain committed to serving the public and seeking new ways to add or improve services,” said Clerk Sharon Bock. “The innovative partnership with The Check Cashing Store® provides the public with an added convenience at no additional cost to the Clerk’s office.”

Traffic ticket payments made at a Check Cashing Store® location must be in cash and within 30 days of receiving the citation. Those that are late, require mandatory court or proof of compliance cannot be paid at The Check Cashing Store®. Proof of compliance includes violations for failure to display registration or insurance, driver’s license not carried, and improper or unsafe equipment. The Check Cashing Store® charges a $3.00 convenience fee for each ticket paid at one of its locations.

Tickets may also be paid online through the Clerk & Comptroller’s Web site at www.mypalmbeachclerk.com, in person at any Clerk office, or by mail. Certain restrictions may apply for online payments.

For more information about paying traffic tickets, a list of fees, or Clerk and Check Cashing Store® locations, please visit www.mypalmbeachclerk.com or call the Clerk & Comptroller at (561) 355-2996.

The Florida Constitution established the independent office of the Clerk & Comptroller as a public trustee, responsible for safeguarding public records and public funds. Clerk Sharon Bock is directly elected by and accountable to Palm Beach County residents.  In addition to the roles of Clerk of the Circuit Court, County Recorder and Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners, the Clerk & Comptroller is the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Auditor for Palm Beach County.
