Getting a passport this spring? Check online before you get in line

Online wait times application helps you plan best times to visit courthouse branches

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (March 17, 2014) – Is applying for a passport part of your family’s spring break plans? Use the Clerk & Comptroller’s online wait time function to help you spend less time in line.

The Clerk’s Courthouse Wait Times application at www.mypalmbeachclerk.com/waittimes allows you to check the wait time for civil court services, such as passports and marriage licenses, for the Clerk’s branch locations where passport applications are processed.

“We know that spring break is a popular time to apply for passports at our office, so we strive to make it easy and convenient,” Clerk Sharon Bock said. “Our online wait time function helps our customers spend less time at the courthouse and more time preparing for their vacations.”

Spring break and summer are when the Clerk’s office sees its highest volume of passport applications at its branch offices in Belle Glade, Delray Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. Last year the Clerk’s office processed more than 21,000 passport applications, with nearly one-half – or 12,800 – processed between the months of March and July.

The Passports page at www.mypalmbeachclerk.com has information about applying for a passport, including links to online passport applications, information about fees, forms of identification required to get a passport and frequently asked questions.

Passports are just one of the many convenient services available at the Clerk’s branch locations. Customers can also apply for a marriage license, register a domestic partnership, pay a traffic ticket or submit official records for recording. Find a list of branch locations and more information about the services they offer at www.mypalmbeachclerk.com.

The Florida Constitution established the independent office of the Clerk & Comptroller as a public trustee, responsible for safeguarding public records and public funds. Clerk Sharon Bock is directly elected by and accountable to Palm Beach County residents.  In addition to the roles of Clerk of the Circuit Court, County Recorder and Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners, the Clerk & Comptroller is the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Auditor for Palm Beach County.
