Clerk & Comptroller Receives National Innovation Award for Groundbreaking Use of Artificial Intelligence

Clerk Sharon R. Bock, Esq. Accepts CIO Magazine’s Digital Edge 50 Award on Behalf of Her Office

The Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller’s office was nationally recognized by CIO Magazine on Wednesday for its groundbreaking use of artificial intelligence to transform the way court documents are processed.

Clerk Sharon R. Bock, Esq. accepted CIO’s 2019 Digital Edge 50 Award during a ceremony at the AGENDA19 Conference in Ponte Verdra Beach, Fla. The prestigious award is frequently given to Fortune 500 companies who implement digital transformation initiatives that are considered game changers in their field.

Other 2019 Digital Edge winners include Verizon, Whirlpool, IBM and Bank of America.

“It is an honor to stand with some of our nation’s largest corporations to be recognized as a leader in digital innovation,” Clerk Bock said. “I am extremely proud of our efforts to leverage A.I. in order to maximize our service to our customers, the taxpayers.”

Clerk Bock’s office is the first government agency in the world to use artificial intelligence software to maximize productivity, accuracy and efficiency in the courthouse. The software allows the Clerk’s team to provide customers with faster, more efficient service by reading, classifying and docketing electronically-filed judicial records around the clock – even on weekends and holidays.

The Clerk’s use of A.I. is transforming Florida’s court system, providing the public with access to documents almost immediately after they are filed.

The Clerk’s program is considered a national model for other court systems around the United States. National experts – including representatives from Clerks offices from several states, members of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, and facilitators from the National Center for State Courts – visited the Clerk’s office in July to learn how other court offices can incorporate the technology into their operations.

To implement the program, the Clerk’s office used software developed by Florida-based Computing System Innovations (CSI), a leading provider of automated indexing, redaction and classification solutions that is based in Florida.

“I am extremely pleased to hear that the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office has received this prestigious award for their visionary adoption of Intellidact AI technology,” said Henry Sal, President of CSI. “Being part of the Clerk’s achievement validates Intellidact AI as a leader in the market. First in the world is pretty hard to beat.”
