Government Finance Officers Association awards highest honor to Clerk’s team

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (Dec. 27, 2019) – North America’s top association for government finance professionals has recognized the Clerk & Comptroller, Palm Beach County as a national leader in financial reporting and public transparency for the 30th consecutive year.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded its prestigious “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” to the Clerk & Comptroller for the office’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, or CAFR, for Fiscal Year 2018. The award is the association’s highest form of recognition for government accounting and financial reporting.

This 30-year achievement is a tremendous accomplishment, and a testament to my team’s dedication to the highest standards of financial reporting.” 

The Clerk & Comptroller’s annual CAFR report provides clear and transparent information about Palm Beach County’s financial health and includes a detailed accounting that documents how tax money is budgeted and spent.

Whether you want to see how much the Board of County Commissioners collected in property taxes, spent on road projects, or saved in reserves, the Clerk & Comptroller’s CAFR report ensures you have all the information you need to make informed decisions about your government.

To earn the recognition, the GFOA’s impartial panel of judges determined that the Clerk’s report adhered to the most stringent accounting principles and exceeded nationally-recognized guidelines for financial reporting and transparency.

The GFOA is an independent professional association, whose best practice guidelines are considered the gold standard in public finance. Founded in 1906, the association represents more than 20,000 government and public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada.
