This is the term used for the parent or person who lives with the child.

The SDU is required by Federal Law to collect and disburse child support payments ordered by the Court.

A court order that instructs the payor’s employer to withhold the child support payment from the payor’s income and forward it to the SDU or directly to the other parent.

The Clerk and Comptroller is the record keeper for all court cases filed in Palm Beach County. If you would like a copy of a document or a case history for your support case, you must first obtain the number of pages associated with the document.

Florida law states that among other reasons, child support can be reduced or increased if a substantial change has occurred. This is done through an order of the Court (see: Supplemental Petition for Modification). Contact the Self-Service Center at (561) 355-7048 to obtain the necessary forms.

Yes. Pursuant to Florida Statute Chapter 61.181(b)(1), a depository fee 4% of the amount paid with a minimum of $1.00 and a maximum of $5.25, is charged for all payments made through the State Disbursement Unit. The Depository fee applies regardless whether the payment is mailed to the State Disbursement Unit or paid online.

For example if your child support obligation is $100, the depository fee will be $4 (4% of $100). Your total payment will be $104. This is separate from any additional fee charged by an online service.

If the case involves the Department of Revenue, the Clerk Depository fee does not apply.

18. However, we encourage you to review your court order in the event it contains additional stipulations that would extend your child support obligation beyond the age of 18.

If the records indicate the amount you owe (including other costs related to your case) is more than the normal payments, you may receive a delinquency notice. If you disagree with the notice, you may file a Notice to Contest within 15 days of the mailed notice. You may also contact the Unified Family Court at (561) 355-6511 if you have any questions regarding the Delinquency notice.

If you do not make a payment, a judgment will be issued that becomes a lien against your property, the delinquent amount of child support will accrue interest, and the judgment may appear on your credit report.

The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s office should adjust the records based on the Court Order defining the age or event that terminates support. To verify if your child support has ended or to obtain an order to cease your child support obligation, you may:

• You may consult an attorney.
• You may call the Self-Service Center at (561) 355-7048.

This fee must be included with each payment sent to State of Florida Disbursement Unit regardless if you mail your payment or pay online. 

You do not have to pay the Clerk Depository fee if your case is being enforced by the Department of Revenue.

If the case is not enforced by the Department of Revenue, the Clerk depository fee applies.

The Clerk depository fee is four percent (4%) of the payment, with a minimum of $1.00 and a maximum of $5.25. For example, if you are court ordered to pay $100.00, the Clerk depository fee will be $4.00, for a total payment of $104.00.

You can only change your own address, and not that of an opposing party.
