Restraining Order Scam: Beware of Calls Asking for Personal Information

Our office has been made aware of a scam that tries to use the Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s name to perpetuate fraud.

The incident that we were alerted to is a scheme where people are being told to call, or have their attorney call, regarding a restraining order involving them. The number being used in this situation is not a Clerk’s office phone number and has been used in similar-sounding schemes where potential victims are asked for private information, such as Social Security numbers.

If you think you may have been the victim of a scam, you should contact your local law enforcement agency or the Florida Division of Consumer Services (800-HELP-FLA).

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to call our office at 561-355-2996 or send us an email.
