The Clerk & Comptroller, Palm Beach County, in its role as the county’s Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Auditor, is responsible for issuing payments on all CARES Restart Business Grants approved by Palm Beach County.

All applications for grant money are submitted through Palm Beach County. The Clerk & Comptroller is responsible for issuing payment once the application is approved. Our office does not process applications for CARES Act money.

The Clerk & Comptroller is the independently elected “watchdog” of all county funds, providing the necessary checks and balances on the county’s budget, revenue and spending.
In this role, the Clerk & Comptroller verifies that each payment – including CARES Act grant money – meets a public purpose and is in accordance with county policy.
Our office’s Division of Inspector General will also audit payments for any signs of waste, fraud or abuse.
Once your CARES Act application has been processed and approved by the County, it is sent to our office for payment where it will be handled on a “first-in, first-out” basis.
We understand the time-sensitive nature of CARES Act payments, and are hiring additional temporary staff to assist with the increased volume in payments handled by our office due to the CARES Act.
As the county’s Chief Financial Officer and “fiscal watchdog,” the Clerk & Comptroller is responsible for thoroughly reviewing all payments to ensure they meet a public purpose and are in accordance with county policy. All payments – including CARES Act money – undergo the same audit process.
